Аннотация

This article commemorates the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements in connection with the 150th anniversary of D.I. Mendeleev's discovery of the Periodic Law. The article highlights Mendeleev's metrological activity and his founding of the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures. Based on archival research in St. Petersburg, the article details for the first time the history of the Mendeleev memorial complex at VNIIM, including the monument created by sculptor I.Ya. Ginzburg in 1932 and the famous mosaic mural of the periodic system created in 1935. The article describes all aspects related to the installation of these monuments, including selection of design options, materials, coordination with various organizations, and financing solutions.
